Sony has announced a new PS5 update is out now, adding a new page called the Welcome Hub with a customizable background, among other features.

The Welcome Hub is a dedicated personal space where players can prioritize and customize widgets to focus on features that matters to them the most. For example, the widgets include being able to quickly see console storage, Trophies, and battery levels at a glance. For US players, the Welcome Hub will be replacing the current Explore tab. The feature will be gradually released to other regions outside of the US, starting with Japan and select countries in Europe, then the rest of the world.

Players can also change the background of their Welcome hub, and can pick from a variety of preset backgrounds or choose a screenshot from the Media Gallery. Within the next few weeks, the PS5 will let players share party voice chat links on any messaging or social media app. This feature lets players invite their friends to join a party voice chat, even if they’re not listed in your friend list of PlayStation Network. By opening the link on their mobile device, the friends can join the party on their PS5 or from PlayStation App.

Back in July, Sony was testing some other features, such as a personalized 3D audio profiles, individual remote play options, and adaptive controller charging. Now, those features are rolling out globally today. It’s also important to note that the adaptive controller charging feature is only available for PS5 Slim and the newly announced PS5 Pro.
