October is the spookiest of months, and on the video game side, you can expect to see a new Indie Horror Showcase from DreadXP and The Media Indie Exchange on many upcoming–and possibly terrifying–games in development. This year’s event will feature over 60 brand-new trailers, and the show will be hosted by horror-genre YouTuber John Wolfe when it kicks off on October 24.
While DreadXP won’t be showcasing any of its own in-development horror games, you can expect announcement trailers and info on demo releases from several studios and publishers behind games like the upcoming remaster of The Thing, Go Home Annie, Sniper Killer, Clock Tower: Rewind, and We Harvest Shadows.
Nightdive Studios (The Thing: Remastered), Wayforward, Misfit Village, Nordcurrent Labs, Pollard Studios, Wired Productions, Torture Star Video, A La Mode Games, Akupara Games, David Wehle, and more will all have something to show.
If you’re interested, here’s when and where you can catch the livestream.
So far, October is shaping up to be a pretty great month for horror fans. The Until Dawn remake is now available, the remake of Silent Hill 2 recaptures the magic of the original PS2 survival-horror classic, and there’s even an XCOM-style game with zombies out on October 8 in the form of Dead Season. For more, you can check out all the horror games releasing this month, and for a more general guide to interactive terror, you can read up the best horror games to play in 2024.
