Call Of Duty: MW3 Zombies Teasers Are Emerging, And Here’s What We’ve Learned

Activision is bringing Treyarch’s Zombies storyline to a Modern Warfare game for the first time ever with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and now we have our first teasers for the undead. These new images give a good indication of where the storyline could be going and what the map could look like. Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

Currently, there’s a Call of Duty promotional campaign happening with WhatsApp, which allows you to text for clues about the upcoming Zombies storyline. The first image shared through the promotion shows a phone on a desk with a map and two notebooks. The map image has an area circled in red, which could be teasing the location of this year’s Zombies setting. However, the most notable images are the notebooks on the desk.

These two notebooks are tied to the Black Ops Cold War narrative for Zombies mode, with one notebook featuring the Omega Group logo and the other being titled and dated as an “Omega Report.” In Black Ops Cold War, the Omega Group were the main antagonists of the story, who sought to harness the power of the Dark Aether to give the USSR a strategic advantage in the Cold War.

The second photo provided is a surveillance image of an overturned vehicle on fire at nighttime, and while there’s not a lot of obvious information to go on, it’s possible this could be teasing a first look and revealing a nighttime setting for the Zombies map.

Additionally, texting “Requiem” will give another image tied to Black Ops Cold War, as Requiem was the CIA-led team fighting to stop Omega Group. This is a letter from Requiem’s Director, who was revealed to be Edward Richtofen.

Lastly, the most recent image shared includes another overhead map and the photos of three members of Requiem: CIA Special Agent Grigori Weaver, Major Mackenzie Carver, and Dr. Elizabeth Grey.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies looks to be keeping a modern setting, but a new group seems to be using the research from Omega Group in the 1980s to try and harness the Dark Aether energy for their own nefarious purposes. More teasers will likely be released through the WhatsApp promo, and we should get more story and map details closer to Modern Warfare 3’s November 10 release.

As previously revealed by Activision, this won’t be traditional round-based Zombies, but instead an open-world experience with survival elements and PvE extraction. It sounds like a mash-up between Warzone’s DMZ and Black Ops Cold War’s objective-based Outbreak mode.

More information on multiplayer and Warzone will arrive during Call of Duty: Next on October 5, but for now, make sure to check out all the details already announced for Modern Warfare 3.
