As part of Gamescom, Microsoft announced a new multiplayer mode for Forza Horizon 5 called Hide & Seek, and it’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
In this new mode, the Hider has to get to a location within a set amount of time, while the Seekers try to stop them. Each side has a pre-set list of stock vehicles to choose from. Additionally, the Hide & Seek mode has its own specific progression track that players can work through to earn badges and achievements, among other unlocks.
The Hider can choose from these vehicles:
The Seekers can choose from these vehicles:
Matches take place in two phases, each with a four-minute duration. In Phase 1, the Hider tries to stay under cover while the Seekers look for them, with the aim of filling their “Detection Meter.” In Phase 2, a randomly selected End Zone appears on the map. The Seekers then have four minutes to find the Hider before they find the End Zone.
The Hide & Seek mode includes special power-ups for players. The Seekers have radar that points them to the general location of the Hider, and once they get close, they can use a “Ping” ability to show the specific location of the Hider on the map–but only for 20 seconds.
The Hider, meanwhile, has an ability called Chase Breaker. Players can use this to disable the Seekers’ radar and ping for 20 seconds. Using the Chase Breaker ability, the Hider’s car is also made invisible to Seekers and can drive through any smashable object in the game.
Hide & Seek launches on September 10. When it goes live, players can visit a new location on the map to access it, or they can jump in through Forza Horizon 5’s Online page in the main menu.
