One of the first items you need to craft upon spawning into a Minecraft world is a Bed. The Bed allows you to reset your spawn point in the world, recover any depleted HP, and pass time to fast forward from night to day. It’s an invaluable item to have and it should be an early, if not your first, goals when spawning into a new world. Below, you can see how to make a Bed in Minecraft and how to use it correctly.
A Bed only requires two resources in Minecraft, and both can obtained extremely early regardless of where you spawn. Below, you can see the exact recipe to craft a Bed at a crafting table:
Both of these materials are easy to obtain, but let’s go over how to get them just in case you’re having trouble. The Wood Planks can be acquired by chopping down any tree in Minecraft and making a crafting table. You can then take your Wood Logs and place them in the crafting table to obtain Planks of whatever Logs you chopped down.
The Wool is a little tougher to get, as it relies on your ability to find sheep. Sheep, when killed, drop Wool that you can pick up. Sheep can be found all over Minecraft, but they’re most common in the grassy biomes of the world. It’s important to note that you need to obtain Wool blocks of the same color, which means you need to find three identically colored Sheep in Minecraft and kill them. However, some Sheep can drop up to three Wool Blocks at a time, so perhaps you can get lucky and get the Wool you need right off the bat.
More Minecraft Guides:
In any case, once you have the Planks and Wool, throw them in the crafting table using the recipe shown above. Then, you can loot your new Bed and place it down anywhere. Ideally, though, you want to protect your Bed on all sides, as monsters can attack you in your bed when sleeping if it’s not protected. You can simply place a wall of blocks and a roof around your bed when you want to sleep at night in the first couple of hours and eventually upgrade to a larger base down the road.
If you want to add some flair to your bed, you can take the bed and get a specific colored dye. Using the Bed and dye, toss them both into a crafting table to dye your bed the same color as the dye you used. For example, you can use Green Dye to make a forest green Bed. That’s an extra step to take, though, so as long as you have your regular bed, you can take advantage of all its benefits in Minecraft.
