Capcom announced that Street Fighter V: Type Arcade in Japan will shut down on April 1. Players will not have access to any components of the game, including its offline modes.

In a press release, Capcom thanked those who have played the arcade cabinets since its release. While the announcement arrived on short notice, Capcom hopes that players will continue to enjoy playing on the cabinets until they shut down. After the arcade cabinets go offline, game data such as stats and titles will no longer be available to view.

This announcement only impacts the arcade cabinets in Japan. The PS4 and PC versions of the game, including the Arcade and Championship Editions, remain unaffected.

With the release of Street Fighter 6 back in June 2023, Capcom also released the arcade cabinet back on December 14. Street Fighter 5’s console and arcade versions had a three-year release gap, with the former launching in 2016 and the latter in 2019. However, there was a much shorter gap for Street Fighter 6’s versions, only being six months.

Street Fighter 5 is available for PS4 and PC. In GameSpot’s Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition review, we said, “It has always been a strong fighting game that continues to get better over time, but it remained a game for genre enthusiasts. Arcade Edition, however, is a game that you can confidently recommend to anyone. Two years after its launch, Street Fighter V is finally fighting fit.”
