The Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal limited edition 4K Blu-rays are coming this fall

Two of the best Muppet movies that don’t feature the Muppets, The Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, are getting new, limited edition 4K Blu-ray Steelbook releases courtesy of Shout! Factory. While they won’t launch until Nov. 19, you can pre-order either film (or both) exclusively at Walmart for $28.96 each. Fans of these flicks likely already know this isn’t their first 4K release. However, both of these two-disc sets are supplemented with new bonus features to enjoy.

The Labyrinth Steelbook features the original film in both 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs, with Dolby 5.1 surround. In addition to over a dozen featurettes and other bonus content, this version of The Labyrinth includes brand new Q&As with Brian Henson and Toby Froud, and a tutorial on contact juggling (that weird thing David Bowie does with the crystal ball).

The new Steelbook version of The Dark Crystal comes packaged with 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs of the original movie, also in 5.1 Dolby Digital. Bonus features include audio commentary from conceptual designer Brian Froud and a brand-new Q&A with Lisa Henson.

As if the Walmart-exclusive Steelbook versions didn’t come with enough extras to warrant a purchase, Shout! Factory is producing box sets of both films that include a number of collectibles you won’t find anywhere else. The $127.97 limited edition of The Labyrinth may lack the Steelbook case shown above, but it includes an 18 x 24-inch poster, a collectible sticker, and a copy of the Hex Deck Labyrinth card game.

The $119.97 limited edition of The Dark Crystal comes packaged with an 18 x 24-inch poster, a copy of The Dark Crystal Hex Deck card game, and a collectible sticker. You’ll get the 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs, though it unfortunately doesn’t include a Steelbook case.
